Niagara Falls is easy to do yourself if you have a car and patience for parking, lines and the bridge. A tour buys back that time and puts the tickets in your hand. Whether it is worth it depends on what each tour actually includes.

Prices below are the live Viator from-prices per adult in USD in 2026, and the attractions' own published prices. They move with the season, so the checkout price is the one that counts.

What does the $165 Canadian side tour include?

The Maid of the Mist (or Journey Behind the Falls when the boat is not running), the Skylon Tower with a return pass, hotel pickup and drop-off in Niagara Falls, and all admission fees, road and bridge tolls.

Not included: food, drinks and tips, and pickup from Toronto or Buffalo. Children 5 to 12 pay a child rate and under-5s book as infants. The tour lasts about six hours, and stops include Table Rock at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls, Queen Victoria Park, the upper rapids and the Whirlpool.

What would the same day cost if you did it yourself?

The attractions alone come to roughly US$30 for the Maid of the Mist plus about CA$18 for the Skylon Tower per adult, before parking, bridge tolls and your time.

Journey Behind the Falls is CA$33 per adult direct. Canadian attraction prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax. Doing it yourself is clearly cheaper on paper; the tour's value is the driving, the parking, the bridge and a guide who times the lines, which is what guests praise most in the reviews.

Is the both-sides tour worth the extra $25?

Yes if you want the US side properly: it adds the Cave of the Winds decks at the foot of the Bridal Veil Falls, Goat Island and Prospect Point.

It is also the most reviewed tour here, with over 10,000 reviews at 4.9. Guests do mention that a six-hour day can run longer with customs queues, so leave your evening free.

A guided walk with the Niagara City Cruises boat, from $71, or simply buying a Niagara City Cruises ticket at the dock below Clifton Hill.

The guided walk meets on Falls Avenue and ends at the boat after about 90 minutes. The walking tour with Journey Behind the Falls adds the tunnels for $109 and has 671 reviews at 4.9.

Do children pay less?

Yes. On the Over the Falls tours, adults are 13 and over, children 5 to 12 pay a child rate and under-5s book as infants; other operators discount children too.

Bought direct, the Maid of the Mist is free for 5 and under, and Journey Behind the Falls is free for 2 and under.

What costs extra on the day?

Food and drinks, tips for the guide, souvenir photos and any attraction outside your tour.

Tips come up often in the reviews: some guides mention an amount on the bus. It is your call. Budget for lunch near Table Rock or on Clifton Hill.
